Hello, Collagers!
I’ve been spending the last couple of weeks getting ready for an upcoming show - which means I had to think about how to display all the tiny little collages I’ve been creating (and storing on these 5x7 blank cards). I especially wanted to do something fun for my tiniest of collages.
And then I had an idea - something unique, colorful, and fun.
I found a set of unfinished 5x5 inch wood frames available at Jerry’s Artarama. I then painted some, collaged some, and even added fiber to one too! A couple of coats of varnish later, they’re ready to match up with the art.
As I sort through my pieces and decide which collage goes with which frame, I also need to gather supplies to complete the look.
I ordered some museum glass from a local glass shop
I picked up some off-white mat board for mounting the collages
I prepped a temporary framing station with my point driver, glue, a dust cover trimmer, and colorful origami paper (that happens to be the perfect pre-cut size) to use for the dust covers.
And finally, I printed some labels to add to the back with information for collectors. (Yes, I accidentally printed my QR code on the round label paper - oops! But the QR code still works - so waste not want not, it is!)
I plan to assemble the rest of the little treasures this weekend. Fingers crossed they all will successfully come together!
I hope my framing idea gives you some ideas for presenting your collages too!
I’ll miss next week for the Holiday weekend (and since I’ll be at an event showing these very pieces), but I plan to return the following week to introduce the topic of Balance.
Until then ~ Happy Collaging!
Jennifer
