A New Collage Experience - Launching in 2024
Introducing “Collage O” (i.e. collage circle)!
Hello and welcome. I’m Jennifer Lommers - a professional artist focused on painting for nearly twenty years (and writer for another Substack:
). Recently, I have become obsessed with creating little collages out of a wide range of (mostly vintage and repurposed) materials using techniques I believe anyone can master and enjoy.Starting in January 2024, this space will become the launching pad for an idea I had based on the “knitting circle” - where friends and fiber enthusiasts come together to share ideas, learn and practice new skills, and support each other. But - for collage enthusiasts!
I find the collage process to provide not only an accessible creative outlet but also a place to heal and grow. Over the past year, I sorted through a myriad of items acquired from various members of my extended family: photos, postcards, letters, books, fiber, and more. I found myself using my art training to bring new life to these items from which I didn’t know how to part while giving me new skills and energy for my studio practice.
And now, I hope to share what I’m learning with you.
Starting in 2024 I will be offering six “focus” prompts per year for jump-starting (or re-imagining) your own collage journey. These will be presented in this newsletter format with a video presentation to introduce each topic every two months.
Optionally - subscribers can “add-on” a physical shipment of supplies that coordinates with each focus area by purchasing an Annual Collage O Package Membership Pass in my Studio Store.
At the end of the year, Collage Circle subscribers can enter up to three collages in a virtual art show, hosted by me! (Must be subscribed by October 31) Package recipients can enter an additional three collages (for a total of six entries for subscribers who also signed up for the annual packages).
Everyone is welcome here. Whether you are new to art-making or a seasoned creative, I hope to provide space for you. You may jump on or off your subscription at any time - whatever works for you - or even simply just peek around the corner now and again, if you’re not ready to commit. I’m hoping this will be a fun experience for anyone interested in collage and a way to bring even more collaging excitement into everyone’s creative practice via this collective art-making process.

The Collage O Summary
Collage Circle Substack Subscribers
Paid subscribers will receive 6 “focus” prompts each year which include a short video demonstration. In between each of these prompts, paid subscribers will receive additional tips, tricks, process photos, and examples relating to the current focus. Room for questions and comments will be provided.
Alternatively, free subscribers will receive an occasional in-between post.
Collage Circle Package Members
By purchasing an Annual Collage Circle Package Membership Pass from Jennifer’s Studio Store, you will receive 7 collage packages created and curated by Jennifer throughout the year. The first package will be an introductory box of supplies, instructions, and materials to start your collaging journey. Each following box will include prompts and materials that coordinate with the current Collage Circle focus. Annual packages may be purchased anytime throughout the year - with or without a Substack subscription. The annual package must be purchased by September of the current year to be eligible for entry in the year-end virtual art show.
Collage O Virtual Gallery
Both Collage Circle Substack Subscribers and Package Members will have an opportunity to share their work (up to three for subscribers and an additional three for members) via a virtual show hosted by Jennifer in December at JenniferLommers.com. Collage work may be offered for sale by the original artist during the show. Show details will be announced in September.
